Crashes and poor FPS can occur for a variety of reasons but bottom line is that they ruin a good hunt. If you are experiencing these problems, try the following solutions:
Verify your PC Specs
The first step is to verify your computer is above the minimum PC requirements to run Dauntless. If you are below the recommended spec, try lowering your resolution and graphic settings to improve performance.
Minimum Spec
- GPU: nVidia 660Ti (DX11) or equivalent
- CPU: i5 SandyBridge
- RAM: 4GB
- OS: Windows 7 DX11 Support
- Hard drive: 15GB of storage space
Recommended Spec
- GPU: nVidia GTX 970 (DX11) or equivalent
- CPU: i7 Haswell
- RAM: 8GB
- OS: Windows 10
- Hard drive: 15GB of storage space
Turn off Background Programs
Turn off any background programs that could be hogging your system's resources. Checking your Windows Task Manager is a good way to get an overview of what's running on your PC.
- Hit the Windows Key
- Type Task Manager
- Take a look at what's running, For more information, you can click More Details.
Update your Graphics Card Drivers
Since you purchased or built your PC, your graphics card may have updated its drivers. These drivers contain essential updates and bug fixes necessary to run the latest games and software, Dauntless included. The first step is to identify which graphics card you have.
- Press Windows Key.
- Type Dxdiag and then hit Enter.
- Select the Display tab.
- Note the name and manufacturer of your card in the top left corner of the window.
From there, you'll want to go to your manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers.
Make sure you also have the latest version of DirectX installed as well, by following this link.
Keep Windows Updated
Most versions of Windows will stay up to date. To ensure you have the latest updates, do the following:
- Press Windows Key.
- Type Check for Updates.
- Then click the Check for Updates button.
If there are any outstanding updates, make sure to download them.
Update Visual C++ Redistribuables
- Go to this page and download the latest update from Microsoft: Download Visual C++ Redistributable Package
Adjust in-game settings
If you still see crashes while playing Dauntless, try lowering your resolutions and graphics settings in the in-game options menu.

- Particularly, lower your shadows, post-processing, and anti-aliasing settings.
